Star Council

Star Council!

The Star Council Plaque
Council #7761 achieved a much sought after goal, our council earned the award of Star Council!

To earn the Star Council Award # 7761 had to gain at least 10 new members and 4 new insured members. We increased our membership by well over the 10 needed, and thanks to a lot of hard work by our field agent Robert Taylor reached our goal for newly insured members as well.

Partners in Christ

Partners in Christ

It has been, in the last few months, this council’s desire to create affiliate organizations with our council and it’s activities.

It was suggested by several brother Knights that a Ladies Auxiliary be formed though the response to this endeavor proved dismal at best. Most certainly a topic that must be revisited in the future.

Now at hand is the prospect of the formation of, what is in effect a Junior Knights organization; The Columbian Squires. This is as stated a group of junior knights! Althogh instead of a council their organized into “Circles.” To start a “Circle of Squires” at least 10 young Catholic men between the ages of 10 and 18 are needed along with a few Knights of Columbus to serve as Councelors.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share your love of brotherhood, with your sons and grandsons! This is where our parish youth can learn of the virtues of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, our own mantra steeped in our youth at a young age produces future leaders, and future Knights. There are thousands of Columbian Squires throughout the world why not bring a few more into the OLC community?

Our official KofC website has done some of the work for us, visit www.kofc.org/un/en/squires/membership.html to learn more about The Columbian Squires today. Let us of course not forget about the formation of a Ladies Auxiliary. If you have any ideas or opinions on how to accomplish this goal call for the floor at our next meeting and share or thoughts with the full might of the council. Lets create “Partners in Christ!”

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island State Convention

Fellow knights, Dave Lawrence and Bill Koltak represented our council at the State convention this year. Bishop Wolkoviak (now a 3rd degree knight) gave mass on the island.

Our vocations program provided funding for 5 seminarians. Since we achieved Star Council this year an additional $500 came back to the council and provided funding for a 6th seminarian!
